Kaleidoscope Raffle Quilt

I finished my Kaleidoscope quilt. It was a lot of fun to make. It was fun to quilt too. I have decided that this is the quilt the kids are going to raffle off to raise money for summer camp at Hume Lake. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20 If you want tickets I can send you a pay pal invoice or you can send money. Email me.

I have it hanging on the wall of my office and I forgot to measure it. I will get that done and posted. It is throw size.
My wonderful father came from Rochester Mn. this week to visit us. He always wants to be kept busy. Well, I had the project for him. "Hey Dad, How about painting my Quilt Shack?" That is right up his alley. Earlier we painted it yellow but that was a terrible mistake. It looked horrible so the job never got completed. But, How about Barn Red? yeah, I am really pleased with the color choice. Now I need to paint a quilt block so I will fit in with the barn quilts in Iowa.

Some Things

Well here it is. I figure this is as picked up as it is going to be. Just tilt your head a little sideways and imagine me sitting in my chair and just staring off into the stash shelf.

My exercise area has turned into a sitting room but still enough room roll out my mat and ball. This is the first project I made here. It is a comfort quilt for a friends 20 yo daughter that has cancer.

This is my progress on Geese in the Forrest. I might call mine geese in the fall.

Quilt Shack Done

It's done! The inside of my quilt shack is done. I have moved a few things inside. The bookshelves need to be anchored so I haven't filled them up yet. Maybe tonight.See the spot for my design wall and the exercise area?
A few posts ago I posted my favorite quilt for the virtual quilt show. It was Old Tobacco Road in fallish colors. I really like the colors used in that quilt so I pulled out the scraps and took inspiration from SoScrappy. Wonky stars with the center squares already completed.

Saturday

This is the new hair do. I tried to put a pony tail in but no go.

Slugger!
Pitcher! He only pitched to one player and he got him out. I held my breath the whole time.
Deep breaths before every pitch.

We delivered her lock of love to my friend Margie at "A Touch Of Heaven Day Spa and Salon". She sends donations of hair to make wigs for children who have a need. The organization is called Locks of Love. Check them out you might have a ponytail to donate.

My quilt shack is almost finished. The base boards and touch up paint and it should be good to go.I took my lap top out there checked to see if I could get Internet through our router. I can. I put an aerobics CD in and did a half hour before dinner. I had to be careful not to punch a hole through the ceiling with the dumb bells.

Cheering Section

Little League on Saturday. Here is Kevin's cheering section, looks like a rowdy crowd. I was bundled up in my car quilt that my Aunt made for me years ago. It was 60 degrees but the wind was piercing. Eric our older son was across the street at the skate park missing out on all the fun.

Now I am really cheering because we are one step closer to "Quilting Studio". Now it is Rice Wine. A little darker than I had envisioned but very cheery, with the trim, laminate flooring and my stuff inside it will be perfect.

Today was the Girl Scout Pancake Breakfast. My little Daisy got to clear tables and set silverware. It is easy to sell the tickets when you have a big family.

Little League

This weekend was opening day for Little League. This little lady means business.Watching intently? Not really, I asked him to pose.

Dutch Baby for breakfast. Recipe Here.
Dry wall guy is finished. I put on a coat of primer today. I picked the color thanks to a few suggestions from you, and you , and you, and you. Thank you, the color suggested was an overwhelming pale yellow. I bought Rice Wine from Dutch Boy. Looks like it will be completed soon, do I dare start planning?

Some Things

The dry wall guy came today. Look how fast he works. I am starting to get excited. Now I wonder, which color to paint it, a pale yellow, tan, or boring off white? I figure I will decorate the walls with quilts so....

I did another one of Judy's blocks. I love the way these are turning out. In truth this project is making me a more precise piecer.

Hot tea anyone? This week there was yet another visit to my favorite Chinese restaurant. There is gluten in soy sauce so the folks here make the sauces without any just for me.

We have insulation, and I helped. This was a day long job but a very nice day, about 55 or so. The dry wall guy comes tomorrow.

Wires

I have wires! The electrician came yesterday and did his thing. He put 11 outlets in so I wont have a problem finding a plug-in when I want one. Next up insulation, dry wall, paint then floor. Heck, almost done.

We have been getting a lot of rain lately. Here is a creek that runs by my office. Once in a while it floods the park. Close but not this time.

Signs of Spring.

Everyone needs a little time to have Margaritas with a friend.

It's Raining!

Yeah, it's raining. That might not sound like much to the rest of the country but we have been very dry here. The last time it snowed here was Christmas. The local ski resort was pretty slushy with the 60 degree temps the last couple of weeks. I am not complaining mind you. I just have not experienced enough winter yet and we need the water! With it raining here it is probably contributing to the snow pack a bit higher.
I started my day off a bit slow this morning. I sat at my desk in my PJs until 7:13am in the quiet, blog surfing with a cup a Joe. What a nice way to start the day. Unless it is a work and school day! I couldn't bring myself to wake the children and start the morning pandemonium. Well that it was, pandemonium. 35 minutes to get myself and 4 darling children out of the house. We made it 45, stopped at the store to pick up snack for Alea's class and made it to school right when the bell rang. It was not pretty or pleasant for anyone. Was it worth it? I say not. I will take a lesson from "The Flylady" and get dressed to my shoes before I leave my room. If I want to sit and do nothing I will do it after all the stuff is done.

I was playing with the super Zoom on my camera today and found Tammy's necklace a cool target. I want to know how to take those cool pictures where the foreground and the background are out of focus and the item of interest is perfectly clear. Really, I want to know. If you know share with me. Do I need a special camera? Lens? Or just a special setting?
I have a Minolta Konica Z6 My DBIL gifted to me.

Here is a little lady that came to see me today. I was struck by the combination of colors she was wearing offset by her eyes. This would have been another opportunity for that focal length thing.
For the progress on the quilt shack....not much. DH started framing the deck while it was nice out. He is waiting for the electrician to wire it. My DD loves to swing. I think I am going to borrow that 1X4 to roll my Double Delight quilt top on so I can baste it. I am going to try Sharon Schamber's method of basting. Here it the link on Utube. I hear lots of good things about it on Quiltville chat.
I did manage to get a cool shot of the fire I started tonight in our wood stove.

Well here is the latest on the Quilt Shack. The trim is up on both ends. While the weather is unseasonably warm DH decided to work on the outside. We cleaned up the old walk way and 8 years of oak leaves. I have to realize it does make sense but I would rather he get the inside done so I can move in. Oh well, patience my dear Watson. I know the laundry room will look a lot better when I get my stash out of there. Maybe DH knows that he will never see me once it is completed.

I've Got Some Trim, Fitness Update

DH was able to get some trim put up on one end of the quilt shack. It is really starting to shape up. I had a continuing education class this weekend out of town. DH was managing the kids and didn't have a lot of time to keep the momentum going. You can see DD#1 swinging in the background.

Fitness update is good news this week. Even though I was away I was able to make good choices in food consumption. I didn't exercise over the weekend but did do 30 minutes 5 days this week
